‘To be contemporary means to return to a present where we have never been.’
– Giorgio Agamben
Danielle de Vos Lama (1987) grew up in the Netherlands. She went to the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2009. There she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2013.
Expressing herself in a honest and pure way is a priority for Danielle’s way of working. She is continuously Searching, Questioning, Confronting…. Creating Chaos…. Leaving Traces….As well as visual art, language is an important means of expression for Danielle. She is inspired by thinkers like Plato, Kant, Nietzsche, Hanna Arendt, Heidegger, Spinoza, Walter Benjamin….
November 2012, she exhibited her work for the first time in a Group Show in Quanzhou, China. Organized by the European Art Center in Xiamen, China. In the same year she attended a Group Show in The Old Church in Amsterdam organized by the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. By placing her work in direct contact with the spectator she confronts them with the present moment and forces them to react.
In October 2013 Danielle went to the Sint Lucas University College of Fine Art in Antwerpen, Belgie. Where she is a Master student of Fine Arts. Danielle has said: Knowledge is Power and Time is only existing inside of Human Mind.
March 2014 she had her Extra Muros in Gallerie van de Weghe in Antwerpen. There she played with the human mind by only presenting black and white copies of her own work. Based on her direct environment.
